Rathgormack Ramblers Social Night and Fund Raiser

This year the club will again hold a social night/fund raiser in Maudie Kennedy`s. This will take place on Friday, December 2^nd. We will have a Christmas hamper as well as a few other items for raffle, proceeds to go jointly to the club and South Eastern Mountain Rescue. Hope to have some music and craic. Come along and support if you can.

On the walking front, we managed (a small gang of us!) to climb Lugnaquilla in October on a not too friendly day. Club walks continue each month. Don`t forget our Christmas walk to Croughaun on Wednesday, December 28<sup>th</sup> (Back to Ned Kennedy`s afterwards for a few mince pies). In the new year, along with our regular weekend somewhere in Ireland, we hope to venture abroad.

National trails day

National Trails Day 2011 - Sunday, October 2^nd

This year`s National Trails Day takes place on Sunday, October 2<sup>nd</sup>. Check out the National Trails/Coillte websites to find out about the walks in your area. Rathgormack Ramblers will host a walk on the day. We will do the Glenpatrick Bridge Loop walk. This is 8 kilometres long and will take about 2 hours. The first half of the walk is along by the banks of the Glasha river in Coolishal Wood, the second half along the Old Military Road, with fine views to Knockanaffrin Ridge or the "Seven Sisters". This is suitable for all, but children must be accompanied by an adult. The forest paths don`t suit buggies. Anyone interested please be at Rathgormack Hiking Centre at 2 p.m. Refreshments will be available back in the Centre afterwards.
